andy25, Qantas made over 1billion profit in 2007.

What has changed since then ?

Oil has gone up. Employee wages have risen in line with inflation.

    Yet profit has gone down.

Meanwhile, 6 airlines have been created, funded, aircraft have been bought for them. Oil prices have gone up. And the core business, Qantas, is left flying old, outdated, fuel guzzling aircraft.

    Why is that ?

How is the that union's fault ?

Why is every other, major carrier, flying B777's that are 30% cheaper to run then the B747 ?

The unions don't make fleet choices. The unions dont create 6 airlines and buy over 150 aircraft for them.

The whole argument is a strawman argument. You can't blame the union's for bad profitability when the management have failed to invest in the right aircraft for the right routes. They have failed in that sense 100%.

Goto ANY airport in this country, look how many B747's are parked at the gate compared to B777's. Simple task. When you do that, come back and blame the unions for that.
