I just ate my first ever of these apples. I've eaten Royal Gala up to this point, apart from the old varieties which have been gone for years like Jonathan or Delicious and others I can't even remember. It was a bit tart but that changed almost immediately to a sharp sweetness. It was fairly hard to bite though. A loose tooth would soon find its match here. But maybe they've just started coming in and not fully ripe yet, I don't know about that.
