Salt ponds will be interim measure
and no, it's not "industrial waste" which will be pumped into the brine pond - just salt brine.
how on earth do you think they got approval for these ponds? do you think the council or the EPA would have allowed the storage of toxic waste in a pond?
as for the rest of you theories... maybe they are waiting for the next leap year as there's one more day for evaporation.
