My patience is wearing very thin with Santos. They will never be a Woodside or a BHP and I knew this, but I did invest a few years ago because I thought they might experience some growth through exploration success and eventually monetise some of their Timor Sea gas reserves.Upon further reflection, their management does not appear to have what it takes. The fact that they are protected from takeover by the SA state Govt seems to act like a form of protectionism that breeds complacence and mediocracy. They need to move their Head Office out of that backwater, Adelaide, then get the SA govt to lift that 15% shareholding restriction, then get rid of some of the dinosaurs off the board and out of management ranks. This is the only way they will ever get some dynamic growth going for them. I plan to bail out soon.
