piracy - 21st century style

The Pirates of old are synonymous with plundering government and private ships for gold and other riches. A simple concept really, one that I feel is with us today.

Take this simple example. Gold is mostly measured in the world reserve currency - USD. Sentiment on gold fluctuates for many reasons, but mostly as a consequence of the USD fluctuations.

When gold gets taken down in USD for whatever reason, gold equities worldwide often take a hit. Logical??? Sort of. When adding FOREX into the equation it could very well be the case that some gold companies are actually unaffected by the fall in USD price.

What if todays modern pirates are the banks - a parallel recently suggested by other posters. Banks move in and out of gold in a deliberate way not to profit from the gold transaction but to magnify swings in gold equity markets.

Perhaps the 'Jewel' of the pirates ire is getting a bigger slice of quality gold producer rather than owning physical gold. After all physical gold is only a vehicle for the pirates to sink investor ships, not a bounty as pirates of old once sort.

So as we see the see sawing gold price and the wild fluctuations in gold equities, perhaps we are all being screwed by a deliberate plan to defraud us of our quality gold equities.

    GC
