I understand your point of view regarding over regulation in the gaming revenue. Pubs/clubs are easier for pokie players, not gaming tables because they do not exist in pubs/clubs.
I posted a link a week or so ago to show Crown Casino EOFY 2023 which was at a 199 million loss but had some one off penalties included but the revenues from Sydney and Perth had increased. The article read the likely hood of Crown turning a profit in 2024 was going to happen but I can not find any results EOFY 2024 being a private company. Reducing staff and shutting off areas in Crown Sydney isn't screaming profits at the current structure but cost cutting to become profitable certainly is viable.
Star will never return to the gaming profits it once enjoyed but it certainly can exist with a smaller profit margin just as Crown has shown it can. Crown has been over regulated in all states as well but is not exactly the same as Star from an operational stand point but shares similar aspects.
"Kicking the can down the road" statement, if they stayed under the previous company structure with the same team I would probably share the same view but that is and will change in due course. SGR is by no means a guaranteed winner but to say the company holds no future prospect of becoming profitable is a stretch.
