On 13 December, Victoria’s casino regulator says it is investigating Crown Resorts after the gaming giant, owned by New York-headquartered private equity firm Blackstone, began its own inquiries into whether senior managers had allowed customers removed by security to return to its premises.
Crown Melbourne runs under strict conditions set out by the VGCCC, which granted it a special licence after a royal commission found the group was unsuitable to hold a casino licence. It is still deciding if Crown is fit to run the casino unsupervised – a decision is due early next year.
