With all due respect, that's rubbish. The share price is not a determinant of success or failure. It's an indicator. ie: if the company does well, the share price should rise. If it does poorly, the share price should fall. But there is no guarantee that even those links will follow.
If a given company's management is any good, they'll do what they do best (manage the company, keeping their hands on the rudder to make sure things move in the direction they're supposed to), and ignore the share price. Managing in response to the share price (or managing with an eye specifically towards the share price) leads to Enron-type situations.
If you don't like the way the company seems to be going, there are two options. Either (1) raise it at the next AGM (or contact management directly beforehand), or (2) sell out and buy into a different company.
I'm not going to get into the whole argument about share price manipulation. Face facts: we're minnows in the ocean, trying to avoid the sharks. The legal system can go only so far to change that.
