An example of wastage of energy, commercial planes ALL dump fuel to land safely.
What a load of horseshit. ALL airlines are [ok, were] spending big dollars to buy fuel efficient aircraft. Do you seriously think they do that so that they can dump fuel?
BTW Not all aircraft have the ability to dump fuel. I just checked and the A 380 can but somehow QF 32 out of Singapore had to land overweight. A dozen metal pieces through the wings might do that.
