Those with woodlots on leased land do appear to be well and truely shafted by the Gunns proposal.

I have read through the 2005 Woodlot Constitution (all 123 pages) regarding termination of Growers' proportional interests in this project.

Disclaiming of Head Leases was not specifically mentioned as a cause to terminate a grower's interest in this project. The only reference to the reduction of a grower's interest was in section 12 (Insurance) of the Lease or Forestry Right Agreement, and that referred to destruction of the forest produce.

I do not have legal advice yet, but it would appear that the exclusion of those growers who have woodlots on leased land from sharing the pooled proceeds from this project is not allowed by the project's constitution.
