watso posted the following on another thread

for anyone interested in reading their meter - watso eventually worked out, that it takes 200 turns of the round thingy in the meter, to equal 1 kw. so to work out the consumption of an appliance, watso simply timed, how long it took for one revolution - - and confirm, by timing about 4 revolutions, to make sure that it was consistent

the following equation will give you the cost of running an appliance, where

3600 equals seconds in an hour
200 equals number of turns for 1 kw
    ToR equals Timing of Revolution
    P equals Price per kw/hour

    P/(200/(3600÷TOR))

for watso's example, this is how it worked out

    20/(200/(3600÷51))

    20/(200/70.5)

    20/2.837

    7.05c per hour

note - watso's version of xp, does not have an "equals" sign
