Interesting commment for farmer involved in Horsham bushfire, when he said his platic water tank just melted with a tank full of water. Galzanised tanks may have lost their popularity but could be far more effective if a fire needs to be fought.
Plastic tanks may not rust, but they probably aren't much good in extreme heat situations.
If people intend to rebuild in these fire prone areas, they also need to consider underground cellars, independent overhead watering systems etc because unfortunately the roads in many of these areas are not suitable for driving on to escape a bushfire.
There were plenty of areas in Victoria that were not affected by these bushfires which present just the same issues home owners may need to consider.
Summer temperatures of 40 plus degrees with strong winds, is an issue all Australians need to think about if they live in a potential fire area.
