don't forget it has been over 10 yrs since the GFC and 20 yrs since the 2001 tech wreck. with 89.9% long, 17% short and 27% in cash, it would almost certainly have to outperform the index funds in a bear market, surely. like I said, I use it as insurance, a bit like gold, they say you should hope it is the worst performer in your portfolio. and the bull market is in mature stages you would think.
