    Active manager focuson the absolute basics of investing and the underlying reality of the investmentsportfolio, rather than focusing on the abstractions, which often lead to poordecisions. Indices, whose purpose is to measure the performance of amarket (or what some may term an “opportunity set”), are one of thoseabstractions.The efficiency of markets will eventually bring thecompany’s share price to reflect its intrinsic value.
