No, it's to point out that when there is a stack of facts pointing in one direction and then someone else points in the other direction while acknowledging they have little reason to do so other than gut instinct, logic would suggest sticking with the side of the argument most strongly supported by the facts.

Personally, I think gut instinct is best left for those times where there are equal arguments for both sides of an argument and a decision needs to be made. Hope that helps.
