You appear to understand something a lot of people don't understand.
The beginning in Gen 1:2 was actually a renewal of the Earth that had become "tohu" and "bohu" (Hebrew) for a void and ruin.
This universe has existed for aeons of time prior to the renewal via the mammalian Adamic creation, on a much smaller scale than the previous grand scale of vegetation and dinosaur reptilian creation.
Scientists still cannot fathom why there was such a sudden change from the huge design scale of the dinosaur age of the reptiles ...to the scaled down proportionate age of the mammals. But, Gen 1:1-2 and Isa 14 and Ezek 28 throw light on the subject and provide the clues to the answers.
That's why this article at the beginning of this thread is so interesting, because it highlights the incredible design and engineered complexity of a "living fossil" ...the unique Platypus.
