Industry players flock to Tanzania in pursuit of oil and gas opportunities.

The massive recent hydrocarbon discoveries and the regions high prospectivity will be amongst the discussions at the 3rd East Africa Oil & Gas Summit 2014 in Dar Es Salaam.

On the 27th & 28th of March in Dar Es Salaam, Tanzania key figures from East Africa's booming oil & gas industry will come together for two packed days of presentations & discussions.

The summit will consist of a two day conference & exhibition. This year's event has to date the most extensive coverage of East Africa with speakers coming from Uganda, Madagascar, Kenya, Tanzania, Mozambique, Somalia, South Sudan, Ethiopia, Burundi, Eritrea & Rwanda.

Keynote speakers include Theodore Silinge from the Ministry of Energy & Minerals of Tanzania, Ken Mugambi from the National Oil Corporation of Kenya and Velonarivo Pascal Clovis General Director of the Ministry of Hydrocarbons in Madagascar.

Madagascar's recent political developments are expected to be at the centre of discussion. For the past five years Madagascar has been paralysed by a deep political crisis. Thus forcing activities in Madagascar's oil & gas sector to practically grind to a halt. This is set to change as Hery Rajaonarimampianina has recently been sworn in as the new president. There is now renewed expectations and hope surrounding opportunities for discoveries in Madagascar, with many believing that parts of Madagascar's offshore have similar geological formations to the Rvuma basin which has yielded massive discoveries in Mozambique.

In a recent interview with Oliver Kinross the Minister of Mines for Madagascar Ms. Rajo Daniella Randriafeno said, “that with the new Government recently decided upon, for sure we must start actively promoting Madagascar's offshore potential – starting with the blocks in the Mozambique channel.” The Honourable Minister then went on to say that Madagascar will be releasing some 220 blocks some of these it is hoped in 2014 bidding rounds.

The 3rd East Africa Oil & Gas Summit 2014 will give solutions and servicing companies a chance to meet with local government representatives, it will give oil and gas companies either looking at the region or currently working in the region unprecedented access to key decision and policy makers from the East African countries.

OEL will be the 'lunch sponsor' at the Summit.

If they fund a decent spread, then who knows - maybe they will get Eyasi?!!
