I share you views on most, if not all, of the "war on terror" issues, though I might express myself differently.
I do hold the view that the Islamists must be checked militarily (one could well speculate on how many further atrocities may have been perpetrated around the world if military and security measures by the rest of the world had not been used against them) but the longer term solution must come from within Islam itself.
This lady moves in Muslim circles that share her view so she is representative of at least a segment of Muslim thinking and its attitudes to the extremists. And hence implicitly belongs with those Muslims who have a desire for a civilised, terror-free world.
One could argue that she is reflecting the influences of Western culture. If that is so that culture is more pervasive, by my reading of ME Arab opinion formers, than we sometimes realise. I have read such ME Arab opinion that reflects much the same ideas. Alternatively it might be saying that Muslims share some core values with the West.
Her stand will not immediately solve the "Islamo fanatics" problem but it is a start on a vital non-military component of the longer term solution.
Maybe it is voices like hers within Islam that will eventually produce the larger reaction against the extremists that you would like to see.
