In fact this is exactly what happened in Israel during the recent very successful and effective targeted assasination program.

The jihadis were too busy running and hiding to get plans for attack underway or to the level where they could impliment them or even get the materials and the moron to be the suicide bomber convinced to do it.

The first thing that hamas wanted was a stop in the targeted assasinations so that they could regroup

So it is fairly obvious that having a honey-pot for terrorists in Iraq allows for more systematic destruction of more of the terrorists and ties them up in outside of our communities in the west.

Of course there will be some that attack us on our home ground and that is why we must always keep up and constantly improve our intelligence efforts in our homeland to try to catch them before they get to teh stage where they can attack.

the GWB strategy of:
- protect the homeland
- confront the jihadis in their own neighbourhood
- step up intelligence efforts to catch attempts from local jihadis
- make this part of a broader strategy to bring the culture of the middleeast closer into the 20th century rather than mired in the 7th century as some of their deposit leaders would prefer,

seems to be a well though out one and will likely succeed as long as we stick to it over the time it takes to succeed which may be many years.

What is certain to be a failure is the policy of unilateral surrender and appeasement advocated by chuckles and a few like minded paleo-lefties and fellow-travellers.

But unfortunately, we have to be lucky every time to prevent all attacks on the homeland, they only have to lucky once to get a succesful attack.
