A. like the last dividend, if we are going to pay out one of say 10 cents at a cost of $350m we will want to raise at least twice as much as that in a capital raise through an an institutional capital raise that will dilute existing. shareholders. If we do this a few times we can possibly get share price down below $1 a lot faster.

Q will AMP buy back shares or not how low must the sp go before you buy

A. bloody hell! Would you buy shares in this mess? And if you knew all the things we knew about our problems and the legal cases?? In particular the one with the advisers and the idea that amp should help honour contracts rather than weasel out of them.

Q why are major shareholders not buying more shares at this low price

A. well look at the answer above and the other problem is that the major shareholders know more about the business than we do so they don’t think we understand it well or run it well. And after over 2 years with the wrong ceo, we have just appointed the wrong ceo again. I suppose if you are paying even less for someone who has not got a record of success you cannot expect expert investors to be impressed.
