Oh, I see. You are talking about the "Tip" that GoFundMe adds to your donation. That seems to default to 17% but it is optional. It is also pretty sneaky and would be easy to overlook.
But that "Tip" is added to the donation, not deducted from the recipient. So, if you donate USD100, say, you would be charged USD117 and the recipient would get USD96.80c. (Assuming the commission is 2.9%.)
