I think you can forget about Iress making any meaningful improvements to Viewpoint. All they seem interested in doing is keeping the ball in play: Support merely for the sake of it.
No interest really in making the product less clunky and better suited to traders.
You are correct about the alert interface. It is a real pain to enter anything. Not only that but it corrupts all alerts if you enter an alert from a detached worksheet. And if you step away you will miss the alert as it vanishes into the Windows sidebar and the sound does not even play if your screensaver has activated. Far out! really?! And no ability to set your own alert sound. just the canned offering.
I cannot tell you how bent out of shape I am about this absolute piece of rubbish: viewpoint.
