There's lots of factors that drives the share price. It's part of being a liquid asset. If you can't stand a fall of more than 50% in a stock, then you shouldn't really be in the stock market.
Always ask yourself what business are you buying, why are you buying it, what price would you pay for it, and what do you think is a good value.
Everyone has their own answers. There's no right or wrong, just some people paid higher than others, some people lose money and some people make money.
