please explain share buy back?

    Could someone please explain WHY any company with no income stream would buy shares back when trying to do capital raising?

    The obvious reason to me is to keep the SP up BUT surely this is evident to any potential investor as well? So is it counter productive?

    Can anyone cite a previous example on the ASX where this was previously successful?
