    Because there is a concerted shorting against gold (commodity/miners) at the moment. So many banks/analysts out there have forecasted gold price at level much lower than current, it makes sense for some instos to short it against the latest uptrend.

    Just let the Asian real demand do the work, the more they short against gold price upswing the more price rises later on.
