It seems when it comes to religions, the more opaque and mysterious the claims-----the more people are impressed and want to become followers.

For example----only a genius could say Jesus turned a couple of fishes and some bread into something that fed thousands.Mary was both a mother and a virgin.

What a great feat of imagination, and the biggest and most amazing claim---- Jesus came back from the dead!

Such imagination catapulted the Christian cult that out-survived competing cults to become the leader for millennia.

It would appear a new cult is established each day somewhere around the world--- and why not!

There are some pretty wealthy Indians who assure us they are the reincarnation of Shiva ,and Hubbard was smart enough to come up with scientology. He knew how to get a great religion up and running.

Maybe some only want power over people and I read about a cult in QLD where the followers lived in caravans in hot tin sheds while their leader enjoyed the comfort of his resorts scattered around the land.

Some are attracted to children and have abused the kids of followers who seem unable to break away and report illegal activities, while others continue to be fleeced of their assets and pensions.

I’m sure we could come up with a robust and profitable religion.

Maybe a religion based on incredibly spiritually advanced beings that live on a planet near a star cluster only 100 light years from Earth—but wait someone’s beaten us to that idea—the Raelians. This creative UFO religion must be raking it in!

    Back to the drawing board.

Maybe an IPO of ideas could get the ball rolling--- and of course--- one can be a shareholder in the best religion mankind has yet to see!
