You missed the point entirely. The very essence of what was being said is that when you remove the element of competitiveness then incentive to perform drops. That is what sport is all about - competing for a prize of some sort including individual assessment of performance. Do you read the sports pages?
There is also ample evidence to show that when you put people in a work teams that overall individual performance drops as a small minority will dominate the group. I did that type of experiment as a student over 50 years ago!
Now think very carefully which great leadership example in any nation was the result of a committee/team etc? Then compare it to the good and bad examples of people who have changed the world in some significant way. No ''teams''. A leader leads and others follow because a leader has the vision and the ability to get the best out of people.
Seeing this site is primarily about trading let me say that I used to be very cynical about Technical Analysis re trading in shares. But over time there is no doubt that people's behaviour as groups in share trading can be analysed fairly accurately.
The stock market is scorecard of human behaviour.
