I haven’t seen what he said, but what you say sounds like quite a distortion and simplification.
Fossil fuels extinct in 20 years? Then he wouldn’t be doing much exploration, let alone frontier/basin type stuff.
My own opinion, would be that oil would be in decline in 20 years, and coal in serious decline.
No news in gas being touted as a bridge, but I am guessing it too might be in decline in 20 years.
Got to remember that in oil and gas there needs to be lots of new developments even in a moderately declining market.
