Sorry claired complicated relationship between the metros and the bushies. For starters one is volunteer (mostly) and the other paid.
There is potential for such happenings, sad but true. However, I must temper that opinion by saying that not all metropolitan resources are ideally suited to fighting running fires - for example - many metro tankers do not carry enough static water with them or the right sort of hoses to perform running property protection.
That being said the the metros would have been very useful in many circumstances and their omission from much of the firefront would have been missed.
There will be a shake up after the royal commission.
