The Crime Bill lead to mass incarceration, longer prison sentences, more aggressive policing and it hurt Black Americans the most who were disproportionately incarcerated. It extended the death penalty to dozens of crimes, long sentences were handed down for dozens of non-violent crimes, offered States incentives to build more prisons, funded over one hundred thousand extra police officers, encouraged police to carry out more drug related arrest and enhanced the war on drugs.
It was a bill used by the police to disproportionately target Black American males.
