Makes for an interesting photo. Think I have seen some of the same elsewhere.

The flood was 1934, Nov 29&30. (Not winter, interesting)

Filled the mine, reduced output significantly. First coal was out early March, could be put straight into the boilers as it was not much wetter than its normal 63% ('spose you can't fit much more water in!!!).

Lower levels of the mine were still being dug out of the mud in August.

Don't forget that the biggest risk is still fire - which most recently burned part of Hazelwood O/Cut and a dredge in (2005???), threatened LYang in 2009 and has been in Yallourn in a major way half a dozen times.
