PLL is one of the front runners to help with this vertically integrated supply chain. There is consistent discussion between PLL and the DOE re funding for Carolina and Tennessee projects. With permits in place for Tennessee, it may be the first cab off the rank to get funding from DOE unless they bring in a partner, while they wait for Gaston to rezone.

Gaston county is not totally opposed to the project. Even Chad Brown commissioner hinted that:
"This will be one of the biggest economic development projects that has ever been brought to Gaston County,” says Brown, the Republican nominee for Secretary of State. “Now we have to figure out what will be the best inclinations for our community.”
They know the community could benefit greatly in many other ways and they just need to be fully informed and go through the correct process for their citizens. There is always going to be some backlash and with differing views.

Regardless, if PLL can make it through this downturn, they should fly in the years to come with US DOE backing. Funding for a $800M Tennessee plant and and $1.2Billion Carolin project should ramp this up.
