SKK Migas Instructs Flow of Sengkang Gas to Supply South Sulawesi's Electricity

SKK Migas has instructed the flow of stirrup gas for South Sulawesi's electricity supply. On March 21, 2023, the flow of gas from the Sengkang CA reached 20 million MMSCFD to the Sengkang PLTGU.

JAKARTA – The Special Task Force for Upstream Oil and Gas Business Activities (SKK Migas) ordered Energi Equity Epic Sengkang as a cooperation contract contractor (KKKS) to immediately supply gas from the Sengkang WK to PLN.

The gas flow from the Sengkang CA itself was carried out as of March 21, 2023 yesterday as the implementation of a commercial agreement between the parties involved in the process of flowing gas that can be reused from the Sengkang CA.

Head of SKK Migas Program and Communication Division Hudi D. Suryodipuro in his statement explained the instructions to EEES also taking into account the emergency electricity situation in South Sulawesi Province following the burning of the Jeneponto PLTU, last Sunday (19/3).

"As of March 21, around 20 million standard cubic feet per day (MMSCFD) of natural gas has flowed to the Sengkang PLTGU," Hudi said in Jakarta, Thursday (23/3).

With the flow of natural gas supplies from the Sengkang WK, Hudi hopes to guarantee a supply of electrical energy for the people around South Sulawesi, especially during the 2023 Ramadhan fasting month.

In addition, gas absorption is also a form of operational support for upstream oil and gas business activities in the framework of achieving natural gas lifting in 2023, as well as maintaining the investment climate for the national upstream oil and gas industry.

Furthermore, SKK Migas also continues to encourage PLN and EEES to complete other agreements needed for the flow of gas from the Sengkang WK.

"The flow must be carried out by prioritizing aspects of safety and security of operations," he said.

Currently, Hudi ensures that Energi Equity Epic Sengkang and PT PLN (Persero) are holding intense discussions so that price and supply agreements are reached as soon as possible in accordance with the production capabilities of the Sengkang WK.

"We continue to push for the agreement to be completed immediately by considering the economics of the Sengkang WK gas field development plan," he said.
