No the Romans sadly did not have spreadsheet software for rapid median creation.
However my classics teacher (who died last year at the age of 101) taught me the Latin language.
This in turn was of immeasurable value when reading, writing and speaking French and other Romance languages.
The English language is rich in words derived from Greek and Latin as I am sure you know.
Also the French kindly introduced their language into about 30% of English words.
Following their helpful invasion of England in 1066
French is very largely derived from Latin
Thanks to Romans invading Gaul
Latin no doubt accounts for the eloquence of so many who discuss PLS here at HC
