Water scarcity may cause some mining companies to walk away from projects.

A dam across the Fitzroy would have solved one huge problem today.
I know PLS have their water sorted but the water available from damming the Fitzroy would/could have been used for anything from mining to domestic to irrigation. We could even have sold some to South Australia. I believe the dam across the Ord is only 300 metres long and now the resulting Lake Argyle is something like 65 kilometres long, 40 kilometres wide (feel free to correct me if that's wrong)
