To play devil's advocate... what if the holder is wealthy, but not sophisticated or well-experienced at trading? Likely fits the profile of the large sale, and also fits the profile of holding out as long as possible in order to get a higher price. As you pointed out, settlement dates are known, so perhaps yesterday was cut-off and this person had to pull the trigger?
Only red flag is the timing, just in time to quell the mini-fire that was sparking under the SP.
So many variables it's impossible to know, but i trust blueberry bill in the comments he has made in public forums.
