If SP moves up significantly, leading to the 'great news' qtrly:
Then there is most likely to be selling event on 'great news' release.
As the bulk of the SP move happened prior to 'news' that's not the news for informed market participants.
Something to remember when trading in the markets. (Not just PLS but general occurrence with 'news' that are not in fact news but 'knowns')
