It would normally take a series of daily price drops to alter the median trend to neutral or negative. From a day trading perspective, so you wait a FEW DAYS for confirmation of the trend reversal before you sell and likewise for a buy signal. Taking your retrospective method a little to the extreme, wouldn't your studies lead to selling low and buying high, just saying...
