The cup and handle pattern is not normally used intraday, but rather spanning weeks. It can be highly misleading to try and trade it intraday as it will fail as often as it succeeds. Even traded as a daily pattern it can be unreliable. It seems to become more reliable the longer the time span of the cup, so look for cups running for a few weeks and you have a safer trading bet, I believe.
