A historical note ... I managed a broking firm for a bank
It had gone broke after becoming accidentally short Poseidon at its height.
Manual booking slip errors ... luckily not in my department
The bank asked me to help with an orderly settlement
Another broker was asked to help as well
Client accounts were kept safe.

It makes me increasingly cautious every time I think about it.
