Nobody likes the shares they hold being shorted and going down in value, I certainly don't.
It's a natural response, who likes losing money.
But on the other hand, one has to have healthy dose of rationale and acceptance that:
stocks don't go up in straight line, people/institutions buy/sell shares whether we like it or not, outside factors affect individual companies, we (retail) don't always have all information that others have, a lot of companies are duds with poor management/poor fundamentals even though they have hardcore SH believers spruiking them up on social media/HC, a lot of companies are in business of mining investor pockets and not necessarily in business of delivering on their premises/forecasts, etc, etc.
People like to blame shorts for everything.
If you did your research and you are also right and not just believing fairy tales: the company will deliver by ticking of profits/projects/goals and SP will reflect that in time.
But it's not an easy ride.
You have to remember that you are swimming with sharks and all of them are fighting for money while trying to take yours. Whether it be shorters, instos trying to pump the SP, that HC spruiker that's trying to get you to buy their shares in dud company at crazy valuation, newspaper/analyst/influencer that's serving you research you like to read so they can get advertising revenue etc,etc.
