Because it is a high beta stock the volatility is high at 55% or so. With high volatility you get more bang per buck on an options trade.

have been selling covered calls & buying puts on BHP for many yrs, one area I will not venture is selling puts, the system as you say can generate a tidy income source other than just divi, if a covered call does go wrong & ends in the money, I roll it, as have held the shares pre capital gains & do not wish to lose that benefit, like your trading style, cheers for sharing
