Now the Latest Li price charts. My basic view is that while ever the Li prices are going down the shorters will keep doing their thing. I think it really is as simple as that, no great genius, no great conspiracy, just mindlessly following the pricing charts. This means that until the rest of the world matches or exceeds China's EV production it is the Chinese economy and Chinese Gov. policy that will dictate Li pricing and Oz Li SP movements, and right now the Chinese economy looks pretty routed. On the plus side it seems to me, anecdotally, that the drop rate is levelling off. The first chart below actually showed a .2% improvement on spod when I refreshed the screen from the previous number displayed with would have been yesterdays or the day before - so it is down but not quite as down as before. You'd think that they should be lifting some soon because the Chinese would need to be restocking inventories sometime soon. EV demand in China does not seem to have been that drastically effected by the economy etc.:

This was the latest Chinese EV sales chart (April) I could find (I seem to have lost my link to the more recent data). These numbers do not seem to fit with the Li price behaviour, and there have been some accusations from Chinese bloggers of extensive EV graveyards indicating that the data might be being manipulated in normal Chinese fashion - eg manufacturing cars whithout actually putting in the most expenbsive component - the battery pack, so who knows what is really happening over there?:
