@asb83 is correct here - I don’t understand how so many people forget or just don’t acknowledge tax implications when it is such a material cost to a Company.
All proper analysis needs to take tax into account. Yes, the dividends pass on the the franking credits to the shareholder, but that is not relevant to an analysis. Some shareholders may get all the franking credits back, some might not get any and pay top up tax on the dividend - it doesn’t matter, it’s irrelevant.
At the end of the day the Company is paying 30% tax out of its cash flow.
