huh? you cant short sell something you do not have, shorter first have to borrow the shares from someone and pay a fees then they can short
and on the books you owe the lenders whatever amount you borrowed
when you exit your short trade you have to buy back the shares and return to the lender and your debt is cancel and you keep the differences
it a bit like you borrow the money to buy a house and pay interest, you do not owned the house yet until you paid off the mortgage but you can still
trade the house and keep the differences.
it useless complaining about shorting there is NO thing you can about it nor the regulator, have better risk management in place and you can deal with anything that throw at you in the market.
I like shorters it offer me an opportunity to buy shares at irrational priceand profit from it
