The recent development of renewable energy is beautiful AND will serve the whole world greatly.
However, the increased use of nuclear energy over the last 60 years would have been a great benefit to mankind through the replacement of coal usage, in particular. Much of the blame for coal usage was caused by the (so called) Greens refusal to adopt the very 'green' alternative of nuclear energy.
Nuclear waste is certainly dangerous, but it is relatively easy to use long term deep storage to manage it.
