I agree with your scepticism up to a point1. If big money wants to exit a large short position they may have deep enough pockets
to keep smashing the share price even when seeking to pretend they are not heading
for an orderly exit to book their profits and de-risk their exposure.
2. They are well enough informed to know when real raw material prices are actually
on the rise (if and when that is the case), just as they foresaw and encouraged the
bursting of the hysterical lithium bubble.
3. Rumours of the premature death of EV vehicles helped their dumping tactics
and may well have been encouraged by the short brigade.
4. China's EV skills and temporarily over-produced EVs also helped with scary
pictures of unsold EVS helping to undermine confidence
5. The real EV revolution may have barely begun compared to the
situation in years to come.
6. Big Oil needs to engineer its pathway to the future and may
or may not transfer its wealth to electricity and EV production
7. EVs world wide are coming as surely as coloured films and TV
followed black and white
8. Evidence of strong EV sales will help to move the markets more
than short term share trader manipulations down or up
9. Waves of under and over production of lithium matter less
than world peace and prosperity and new EV affordability
Over production of lithium could kill the golden goose.
10. In short reality not hope is what matters most.
