Sounds about right.
But there are different types of gaps. Common, runaway, breakaway, etc
They have different likelihood of closing (SP returning to close the gap)
In this case SP isn't trying to close the gap, even though people seem to be obsessed with the gap.
Completely different process is playing out that has nothing to do with the gap in question.
If the SP drops to the gap, which seems likely as things stand: I'd expect that in all likelihood, the SP will keep going past the gap (might get dead cat bounce of gap)
