This is where the 50% cgt starts to kick in if you are in a higher tax bracket. Selling in and out while sitting on profits and not benefit from the 50% discount down the way is a hard calculation.

I dont have the confidence yet, to trade enough to get ahead of the cgt benefits.

Yeah, hard choice.
I've switched to just paying income tax a gave up on CGT savings long ago.
It gives me more flexibility trading stocks but sometimes the tax hurts. Especially when compounding profits doesn't work out well
