Didn't stop the shorting one bit, although it did made life easier for shorters. As they didn't need to put fake sell bids to create illusion of massive wall of sellers and risk getting caught by ASIC.
Someone even forgot to take their fake sell order down and got clipped out when SP turned into exponential bull run. Creating CGT event and missing on 4 days of 10% moves gains, until funds cleared.
